Common Questions
Cost and Quote Questions
How much does solar cost for a home?
It depends on system size, roof layout, equipment, and whether your electrical panel needs work. We quote after a site visit. Keep in mind the federal 30% Residential Clean Energy Credit does not apply to expenditures made after December 31, 2025, so a fair quote should not count that credit.
How do I compare solar quotes?
Line them up on system size in kW, panel and inverter models, warranty terms, and who files the permit. Ask each company for its licence, because solar PV installations of any value require a North Carolina electrical contractor licence. A quote that skips any of those is hard to compare.
What should a quote say about the utility?
It should name your serving utility and credit rider. Since Duke Energy's revised North Carolina residential net-metering riders took effect October 1, 2023, net exports are credited at the utility's avoided-cost rate, and the quote should explain how that affects system sizing.
